There has been a lot going on but unfortunately I was sick and haven't had a chance to keep up. But there are some things worth talking about.
I was encouraged by the Republicans in the Congress with the exception of the 3 traitors. But now I am loosing faith again and see no alternative to the horror show that is our national government. This latest spending bill is 40% pork ala Republicans, now that will get you conservative votes. I intend to find out all those that did this and suggest they be replaces. But the problem is deeper, the party is really lost, just too nice. Michael Steel is praising Obama, give me a break. I supported Michael Steel but now I doubt the wisdom in that support. He also has a pissing contest with Rush, similar to that waged between Obama and Rush, Steel calls Rush an entertainer with an ugly show. Now that is going to get support for the Republican party when 20 million conservatives listen to Rush, no small number. Many of them were so disturbed by the McCain campaign that they sat out the election and could have made a difference in the out come. The Republican name has been used since the founding of the country in various forms, the National Republican party became the Whig party and for the election of 1860, the party was dissolved and Whigs and Democrats so inclined made up the new Republican party. The first national election, brought Abraham Lincoln to the Presidency. At this moment in time I truly believe we need to disband the Republican party and start a new conservative party. A little different than the Libertarian party but I am sure it would attract them. Something needs to be done, we are loosing our country to a one party system.
I have come to the conclusion that Obama is the most gifted politician of my lifetime. I was thinking if McGovern was elected in 1972 and we had nothing but left wing democratic Presidents since, they still may not have accomplished as much as Obama has in less than two months. A pity this guy didn't have a better ideology he could have done great things for the country, not run it into bankruptcy.
I was listening to Pravda USA, better known as PBS, on the radio Sunday morning, nice classical music. Then the news hour came on. The first story that caught my ear was a report from Washington, generally about relations between the party’s. His report was that the Republicans were just trying to save their party, implying they didn't care much about the good of the country. In some cases this might be true, he was referring to the Stimulus package handling. I saw I am sure more of the floor debate than he did and they were trying to save the country first, or there would be no need to save the party, that is the way it looked to me. Same report they played a clip from Chuck Schumer, NY Senator who is forever putting his foot in his mouth. He is the one that said during the stimulus debate that the American people didn't care about these petty porky amendments, what an insult to every American tax payer. His brilliant statement of the day was "Republicans are advocating failed 80's policies". Chucky baby, those policies lead to the longest peace time prosperity in American History and your dated policies come from the 30's and failed miserably. He really thinks the American people are idiots and maybe the people that listen to him as if he has some intelligence are. There second story that was suppose to gain support for the closing of Gitmo was a retired Sergeant that worked as a guard at Gitmo that was going to tell all. He had two stories both had guards getting hurt not prisoners. There was no report of torture or mistreatment. Even though he thought they should close Gitmo, he said there were plenty of prisoners that should be there and were truly terrorist. I am sure they looked long and hard to find someone to give them a good story for their agenda but this didn’t seem to be the one and maybe one doesn’t exist.
The Administration reminds me of the Detroit Pistons of the late 80’s , early 90’s. They were a dirty team by design. From the first play of the game they would purposely commit multiple fouls, you just can’t call them all. Toward the end of the game the score sheet would look lop sided, many more fouls for the Pistons than the opposition. The officials can’t let that happen, fouls are suppose to be relatively equal so at the end of the game when it counted the pistons got away with murder and the opposition couldn’t move without a foul. This strategy got them a few NBA championships. Now the comparison. We all fought so hard to defeat the Stimulus package, it didn’t work, thanks Susan Collins. We are a bit worn down from the effort and a little defeated, so what do they do they follow it before the ink is dry with another ½ Billion dollar porky package, according to The Heritage Foundation, this one has over 9,000 earmarks and many are Republican initiatives. Funny how when the Republicans tried to limit spending, every amendment was shot down but when they join in, its a spending party for all. Behind this bill will be many more, plus the bail outs and the mortgage fiasco, like the pistons you just can't stay up with them all.
Even Putin is warning Obama, “We tried it, it doesn’t work”. Putin and all world leaders are scared to death, they know that our economy drives the world economy and it may never recover causing a world economic crisis like the world has never seen.
